Burning Inspiration

Last year a friend of mine came home from Burning Man and she summed up her experience with the phrase playa-tude. As the world gears up for another week at Black Rock City, Rachael and I created some pendants for her Burning Man 2014 gifts.
Having not been to the big burn I wasn’t really sure how to bring her idea to life. After playing around with some word based designs, I struggled to capture the expression fully. They needed something. Then after watching Spark: A Burning Man Story on Netflix, I was struck by the styling of the various projects and Burning Man in general and the design finally came to me with ease.
We decided to use the laser to cut some from bamboo ply and put them on fairy ribbons. She’ll be taking them with her for this year’s burn to share with all her friends. What a great collaborative piece! I love it when things fall in place. I’m excited to send a piece of me to Black Rock City this year.
